WWSL Introduces Co-ed Division for Indoor 2008/09

The WWSL have created a co-ed division to begin play for the 2008/09 season at the new state of the art University of Manitoba indoor facility. The new co-ed divisions will be sanctioned by the MSA, and will include certified referees, structured disciplinary procedures, player cards, and professional scheduling services. The cost for the season is to be determined, however it will be roughly the same as WWSL team fees, which are the lowest in the city. If you have an interested team please contact the WWSL at wwsl@live.ca to express your interest in playing co-ed. The season will run from late October to late March or early April, and will include a minimum of 18 games. More details will be posted soon.

WWSL 25th Anniversary T-Shirts

The WWSL is selling 25th Anniversary Commemorative T-Shirts for $15. T-shirts will be available for purchase at WWSL league meetings and special events. Get your souvenir T-shirt while supplies last.

WWSL Logo Contest

The WWSL is retiring the original logo in honour of the leagues 25th anniversary. The league is offering the teams a chance to design the new logo with a contest, offering $100 to the winning design. Click here for the full details.

Club Report on Match Officials

The MSA has developed an evaluation form entitled the "Club Report on Match Officials" to be completed to evaluate a Referee's Performance following a game. Eventually all teams will be required to fill out the form after each game, however, at the present time, the policy is being phased in, and only teams at the Premier level will be required to send in the form.

If a team official wishes to report on the performance of a Referee, please visit the Referee Centre section to download the form.

Respect in Sport

Sport Manitoba has instituted a new program called Respect in Sport. This program is compulsory for all coaches in all sports in the province of Manitoba. By December of 2007 all coaches will have to complete the online course in order to continue coaching. After this date coaches will not be allowed behind the bench until the course has been completed.

The course is three hours in length, divided into six one-half hour modules. It can be completed at the coach’s leisure, in its entirety or in segments at their own pace. The course is available in both English and French and is fee of charge to all coaches. Visit the MSA web site for more information.

Click here for information on how to access the seminar.

Coaching Clinics

All Teams must have a Registered Coach who has at least a Level One or equivalent coaching certification with the National Coaching Certification Program of Canada, and/or a Senior Level Community Club coaching certificate from the Manitoba Soccer Association or equivalent.

View the Coaches Section for clinic schedules.
